The Connection Point

The Connection Point

Connection. It’s the thing that binds people together. It’s the thing we yearn for, that can often feel out of reach. Because of my shy demeanor and introspective personality, my ability to form genuine connections with others has been a constant struggle. But, with the power of photography, it has enabled me to build meaningful connections with teachers, friends, and creative collaborators who have all had a tangible impact on my life. From my first film teacher to my Rabbi, each portrait in this series resembles the impact that just one word, just one action, just one connection can have on someone's life. By paying homage to these individuals, I aim to bridge the connection gap between me and the person standing in front of my lens making sure that their story, and impact doesn't go unnoticed.

In May of 2022, I, along with the graduating class of UCF’s B.S. Photography program had the opportunity to have our own exhibition at the Southeast Museum of Photography in Daytona Beach, Florida. The team interviewed each participant which featured my story, the concept behind the work, and the impact the program has had on me and my work.

In May of 2022, I curated and installed an exhibition at Gallery 500 in Daytona Beach, Florida. Above is at the opening night of the exhibition where I showed it to my friends and community for the very first time.

As part of my project, The Connection Point, I drove around Florida interviewing, photographing and filming the interactions with my friends, colleagues and mentors. In March of 2021, I met up with Jamie Clemens, a filmmaker and head of business development at VU studios in Tampa, Florida and read him the letter that I wrote him. I then photographed and filmed his reaction.
